RCPP
Optimizing resource use and protecting agricultural land through the San Joaquin Valley Land and Water Conservation Collaborative.
San Joaquin Valley Land and Water Conservation Collaborative
The Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) focuses on optimizing resource use and protecting agricultural land by enhancing water conservation and infiltration practices. The program aims to strengthen agricultural and natural systems against drought and climate impacts.
Through RCPP, the MCRCD collaborates with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), local agricultural producers, and other conservation organizations to expand technical assistance capacity for water conservation. The program serves new and underserved farming communities across the San Joaquin Valley.
Program Highlights
- USDA NRCS partnership for conservation
- Focused on San Joaquin Valley resources
- On-farm conservation practice implementation
- Technical and financial assistance for producers
- Multi-year conservation planning
- Measurable environmental outcomes
Addressing Critical Conservation Challenges
The RCPP targets specific resource concerns that threaten agriculture and ecosystems across the San Joaquin Valley.
Source Water Depletion
Addressing declining water sources through enhanced conservation and infiltration practices across the San Joaquin Valley.
Weather Resilience
Building resilience against drought and climate change impacts on agricultural operations and natural systems.
Aquatic Habitat
Protecting and restoring aquatic ecosystems and water quality in the San Joaquin Valley's waterways.
Terrestrial Habitat
Preserving and enhancing land-based ecosystems, wildlife corridors, and native plant communities.
Field Sediment & Nutrient Loss
Reducing field sediment, nutrient, and pathogen loss to protect downstream water quality and soil productivity.
Community Empowerment
Expanding technical assistance capacity to reach new and underserved farming communities with conservation resources.
The Power of Partnership
RCPP enables the MCRCD to achieve conservation goals that would be impossible to reach alone.
Collaborative Approach
Bringing together federal, state, and local partners to leverage resources and expertise for greater conservation impact.
Targeted Solutions
Developing locally-driven conservation strategies that address the unique natural resource challenges facing our region.
Community Engagement
Working directly with farmers, ranchers, and landowners to implement on-the-ground conservation practices.
Building a Sustainable Future Together
Through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program, the MCRCD is helping to build a more resilient and sustainable agricultural landscape in the San Joaquin Valley. By working together with our partners, we are addressing the most pressing natural resource challenges facing Madera County today and for future generations.
